What is Microsoft System Center?



The Microsoft System Center family of products supports performance and availability monitoring, software updates and deployment, data storage and recovery, IT reporting, and problem, capacity, and operations management. Below is a brief description of each of the components of the System Center and what they can do to help your IT department. We will continue to add new System Center courses to our schedule.



System Center Operation Manager (SCOM, formerly MOM) is an end-to-end service management solution. This solution works best for Microsoft Windows because it easily integrates and with Microsoft software and applications and intelligent monitoring and reporting.


Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager 2007 (formerly Microsoft System Management Server) increases IT productivity and efficiency by lessening manual tasks and allowing you to focus on big-picture projects, maximize hardware and software investments, and increase end-user productivity.


Microsoft System Center Data Protection Manager 2006 speeds up disk-based backup and recovery, delivers data protection, and increases your IT organization’s effectiveness.


Microsoft System Center Essentials 2007 is a unified management solution that enables IT professionals in a mid-size organization efficiently secure, update, monitor, and troubleshoot your IT environments.


Microsoft System Center Virtual Machine Manager 2007 is a stand-alone management application for a virtual data center. It allows you to increase use of your physical server and manage your infrastructure virtually.


Microsoft System Center Capacity Planner 2006 is a predeployment, capacity-planning solution that provides best-practice guidance, hardware-specific knowledge, and scenario planning.

System Center Configuration Manager Skills Update for SMS 2003 Administrators

This 4 day hands-on course is designed for the experienced SMS 2003 administrator, focusing on the changes in System Center Configuration Manager 2007. In addition to using the changes from SMS 2003, students will have the opportunity to work with the new features which have been incorporated into System Center Configuration Manager 2007.

Systems Center Operations Manager Installation and Configuration 2007

Students will walk through an advanced installation of Operations Manager 2007 and learn how to install the database, Root Management Server, additional Management servers and deploy agents. In addition to the known installation steps, this class will also demonstrate the additional, often undocumented setup steps involved in getting Operations Manager 2007 functioning as expected in their environments detailing the specific hotfixes and updated Management Packs.

Systems Center Operations Manager Fundamentals 2007

This two-day course is a mix of in-depth instructor led training and hands-on labs where you will learn about all of the components that make up a Management Pack. In addition to learning how to create attributes, rules, discoveries, monitors, tasks and views, you will also learn how to configure the following Microsoft Management packs: Windows Base Operating System Management Pack Active Directory Management Pack Exchange Management Pack SQL Management Pack MOSS 2007 Management Pack HP Management Packs
